Thursday Special Wine Tasting: Domaine La Prut

  • Market Street Wine 311 East Market Street Charlottesville United States (map)

Mighty Moldova!

The northern Balkan country of Moldova laughs at our history of Oregon wine from Wednesday’s tasting. The roots of Oregon wine go back to 1847. The Moldovan wine story starts with the Cucuteni Civilisation around 5000 BCE!! (Scroll drop!)

Sandwiched between Romania and Ukraine, sitting right above the Black Sea, on the same latitude as northern Italy and Switzerland, Moldova vineyards enjoy a sunny, continental climate with maritime influences, similar to Burgundy.

Here, in the Codru Natural Reserve, you’ll find Domaine La Prut, the brainchild of Austrian oenologist, Wilfried Pfanner. Surrounded by apple orchards, La Prut makes wine out of a combination of Western European and Caucasian grape varieties.

Please join us for a special Thursday wine tasting when we will have guest pourer Valentina from distributors Impero Wine USA. Plus we’ll have a representative from Moldovan vineyard Domain La Prut!

This tasting is a free, walk-up tasting. Please feel free to join us any time within the hour and a half.
