The Return of Adroit Theory Brewing Company!
Halloween is upon us!
So don’t you want a creepy craft beer companion for your horror movie marathon, something you can trust to keep the jump scares on the screen and out of your glass? Well this year, for our annual Spooky Brews tasting, we’ve decided to turn the whole thing over to Purcellville, VA’s Adroit Theory Brewing Company — a great brewery that a former owner banned from the shop because he thought the labels were too scary.
Well, we don’t fear mad labels, only bad beer!
Mark and Nina Osborne founded Adroit Theory Brewing Company in 2014. From the very beginning they were different. They released their beers in 22oz bottles (back when those were still a thing), and their beers pretty much started at 7% ABV and went up from there — IPAs, barleywines, (a memorable Honey Habeñero Brown Ale), and the stouts! — Oh, their stouts! And then there were their labels, which looked like a 70s heavy metal album cover artist’s fever dream!
Today, Adroit Theory has succumbed to pint can normality, has a new lager loving head brewer (formerly of Ocelot and Vibrissa), but they still make great brews that they describe as, “esoteric + style challenging beers with an emphasis on Hazy IPAs, Fruited Sours, Pastry Stouts, and Barrel Aging projects.”
Please come and join us this Thursday as we welcome Adroit Theory back to our shop. We’re sure you’ll love these beers as much as we do faster than you can say, “Boo!”
Results of the 2025 Great Pumpkin Taste-Off
This year provided us with the most unique conclusion to a pumpkin taste-off that we’ve ever had. In a way, we had three winners …
First off, based on votes, there was a tie between the New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin — a spicy pumpkin ale, and the Heavy Seas Great’er Pumpkin — a bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin ale. However …
… almost everybody said that, even though the other selections had stand-out tastes that won their votes, the only contestant that they could see sitting down with to finish a whole glass of … was Starr Hill’s Wicked Harvest Imperial Pumpkin Ale.
Thank you to all whom came, tasted, and voted. Can’t wait for next year!
