Essay Syrah Blend 2017
Regularly $11.99/On sale for $9.96

Essay, an allusion to the popular abbreviation for South Africa (SA) as well as implying an “assemblage” or blending of things to create a whole greater than its parts. These wines are made by the same team that makes the higher-end, more traditional South African wines under the “Lievland” label that we also sell.

A Mediterranean blend from the Agter-Paarl. The vineyards are unirrigated and planted on old Malmesbury shale soils producing wines with distinctive flavour and texture. The grapes were hand-harvested and lightly wooded in older casks for a softer mouth-feel. The wine was made in a delicate but fruit-forward style. Fining and filtration was done prior to bottling. Varietal Blend Syrah 73%, Mourvedre 10%, Grenache 10%, Cinsault 7%. Silky smooth and seductive and an incredible bargain.
