France: South by Southwest
When you talk about “the south of France” in terms of wine regions, you may think of Mediterranean sun-drenched areas like Provence or the Lanquedoc or the southern part of the southern Rhône. However, there’s another southern French wine region — the southwest.
The southwest of France is where you will find appelations like Gaillac, Cahors, Madiran, and Gascogne. Just a couple hundred miles from the lands of Mourvèdre, Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah, the southwest sports varieties like Tannat, Fer Servadou, Merlot, and Côt (Malbec).
Please join guest pourer Julie from distributor Plant Wines for a tasting of wines from both the South and Southwest of France. This tasting is a free, walk-up tasting, and you can pop in anytime between 5:00 and 6:30 PM. This Friday, it’ll be good when things go south. See you then!
