Welcome to the Finger Lakes, where Riesling grows in a thin band around the lakes… It’s can’t grow more than a football field or two from the water’s edge, because the lake retains heat and makes the surrounding area a good temperature for viticulture. Plant beyond that thin band through, and the vines freeze in the winter… Riesling is by far the most popular grape here, but we’ll also sample Gewurztraminer, Saperavi, and more…
